How to get animated GIF from video?
Step 1: Select the original video.
Click the “Open” button to select a video file. Common supported video formats include: AVI, MPEG, MP4, WMV, MKV, MOV, VOB, RMVB, etc.
Step 2: Take a video clip.
Drag the progress bar or click the “→”, “←”, “Shift + →” buttons to locate the starting position of the video clip, then click the “Set Start” button. Use the same method to locate the end position of the video clip and click the “Set End” button.
Note: Hold down the Shift key of the keyboard and press the left and right arrow keys to play the video in a single frame, then press the left and right arrow keys to play the video in a key frame. Click the small button to the right of “Set Start” or “Set End” to quickly position the video to the start or end point.
Step 3: Set parameters of the output GIF file.
1. Click the “Preview” button (or directly modify the “Video Size” and “GIF Size” parameters), and a preview window will pop up. You can now see the ‘Video Picture’ and ‘GIF Picture’ in the preview window. Adjust the “Video Size” parameters to change the size of the video picture, and adjust the “GIF Size” and “Margin” parameters to change the size and display position of the GIF picture. By setting these parameters, you can capture any part of the video and make GIF animations of any size.
2. You may set the GIF animation speed anywhere from 25% to 200% of the original video. However, 100% is typically recommended.
3. In order to reduce the size of the GIF file, the number of frames can reduced as needed and set as low as 1/20 to the full amount of frames of the original video. Typically 1/4 or 1/5 yields the best results.
4. Set the color of GIF animation: You can choose from 4 all the way up to 256 colors. Selecting a low number of colors will reduce the size of the GIF file, but the quality will deteriorate. It is recommended to choose 64 or 128 colors for best results.
5. Set the GIF compression quality. The larger the value selected, the better the quality, but the file size will increase. 70% is typically recommended.
6. Set the watermark: Click the “Watermark” button to add or delete the watermark picture (PNG format) or edit the text watermark in the pop-up interface to adjust the display position of the watermark.
7. Check “Loop” to make the GIF animation play continuously, otherwise it will only play once.
Step 4: Save as GIF.
Click the “Save as GIF” button to save the GIF animation file.
