In order to ensure that members on the board are active participants, we have introduced a pruning policy.
Definition:
prune (pr
n): To cut off or remove dead or living parts or branches of (a plant, for example) to improve shape or growth.The Simple Policy:
Twice a week, we will be pruning (aka deleting) members with zero (0) posts.
Members inactive for more than 30 days will be pruned unless they advise the staff they can't access 'cause they have a trip, vacations....ETC.

• What is a post?
Anything where you have pressed "Add Reply". This could be you saying hello, saying thanks, adding a new application link, etc.
• But I don't have anything to post? I don't want to get pruned!
As mentioned above, there are other ways to make posts rather than posting download links. Here are some ways:
-> Introduce yourself in Tongue Safety Valve (TSV)... we are friendly!
-> Tell us a few jokes in the Fun section
-> You can reply to many of the other discussions in TSV, such as showing us your pets or pics from where you live
-> You can try to support someone in the Support Corner
-> You can try to help someone fulfill their request in Requests section
-> You can add a link in the Bookmarks section to a cool site that you have found
-> You can post an interesting news article that you have found in the News section
-> You can write a movie/game/application review in the FileCatchers Review section
• So as long as I continue to participate in the community, I will be safe?
EXACTLY! It's easy to participate and it's fun too. It's great to give back to the community whether it by catching links or adding to the fun at FC. It's all participating.
• But I'm going on holidays for more than 30 days!! I don't want to get pruned.
Well firstly, that isn't a question. But never fear... as long as you have been participating, we won't prune you... we know who the real leechers are!
• Why are you pruning? Why can't you just leave people alone?
It's a matter of principle and respect. Many members are spending a lot of their spare time catching links for you and making FC the great place it is. Also the admins have put in a lot of time, money and effort into running and maintaining FC. It is only fair that you participate and not just leech.
• This just seems too hard... is there a simple way to avoid pruning?
Yes there is. You can contribute financially to FileCatchers by making a donation. This will elevate your level on the board to a Subscriber and you will become orange. To do this, click Donate or use the Donate button on the top bar. This means you don't have to worry about being pruned for a whole year! (Or Two)
• New Members
New registered members with zero posts after few days are pruned as we think they really haven't understood the spirit of a sharing board and that this is NOT a read-only site.
